As part of the PlayNHRA initiative, the oddsmakers at Alt Sports Data have released updated championship odds for Professional racers in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

Following the completion of last week’s NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis, the NHRA Countdown to the Championship has reached the midway point. With three races remaining in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series for 2024, the oddsmakers at Alt Sports Data have released updated championship odds for each of the Professional categories, Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle.

With back-to-back wins in Reading and Charlotte, three-time world champion Antron Brown has taken over the lead in Top Fuel, and he currently enjoys a 34-point advantage over Justin Ashley, while Shawn Langdon is third, 60 points back. Brown is the current favorite at -103, which means a bet of $10 would deliver a profit of $9.70, while a winning $10 wager on Ashley would return a profit of $24.20, and Langdon’s +527 odds would mean a profit of $52.70 on a $10 bet.

For those further down the order, it’s important to note that there are 12 rounds of racing left at the last three events in Dallas, Las Vegas, and Pomona, and the final event of the season, the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals, features a modified system of points and a half, which increases the chances of a late-season come-from-behind title.

Austin Prock’s dominance in Funny Car, including wins in Reading and Charlotte and a runner-up in St. Louis, have provided a 105-point cushion over teammate Jack Beckman, who is filling in for injured John Force, while Bob Tasca III is 159 points back in third. Given the size of his lead, it should not be surprising that Prock is a heavy favorite at -590, which means a $10 bet returns a profit of just $1.69. In other words, a bettor would need to wager $59 in order to clear a $10 profit. Conversely, Beckman’s odds of +801 mean a $10 wager would clear an $80.10 profit.

Not surprisingly, the battle in Pro Stock is much more competitive with Dallas Glenn, Aaron Stanfield, and six-time world champ Erica Enders established as the favorites. Glenn, the current leader and winner of the most recent event in St. Louis, holds a 31-point lead over Stanfield and is 90 markers ahead of Enders. Glenn’s current odds sit at -133, meaning a $13.30 bet delivers a profit of $10. Stanfield is currently priced at +203, while Enders, who has a history of late-season comebacks, can be had for +404, where $10 would make for a $40.40 profit.

Reigning Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Gaige Herrera got off to a slow start in the Countdown but rallied for a win at the NHRA Midwest Nationals, where he regained the points lead over six-time champion Matt Smith. Herrera currently holds a 34-point lead over Smith and is 65 markers ahead of teammate Richard Gadson. Herrera is a sizable favorite at -462, meaning a $46.20 bet would deliver a profit of $10. Smith sits at +236, while Gadson is a long shot at +1,900, where $10 could potentially net a profit of $190.

Below are the current championship odds as provided by Alt Sports Data.

(Note: In American sports betting, odds are typically expressed with a plus (+) or minus (–) symbol followed by a number. For example, +200 signifies the amount a bettor could win if wagering $100. If the bet works out, the player would receive a total payout of $300; $200 profit + $100 initial stake.)
