Woman flung out of a car window during high-speed freeway crash

Shocking footage has emerged of the terrifying moment a passenger was flung from a car after the vehicle crashed into a barrier along a busy freeway in broad daylight.

The horror collision happened near the Grieve Parade exit, on the West Gate Freeway at Altona in Melbourne's south-west in October 2023.

Moments before the crash, the vehicle was seen swerving through several lanes before the driver lost control.

Dashcam footage from a passing vehicle captured the moment the silver Toyota hatchback collided into the roadside barricade next to the left lane.

The car hit several parts of the barrier before a female passenger was flung out of the car.

The clip showed the woman rolling along the freeway for several metres due to the impact and lying on the road in the foetal position.

The woman miraculously survived and only suffered minor injuries.

The motorist who recently shared the dashcam to Wyndham TV, claimed the crash unfolded after the female passenger yanked the steering wheel.

The car stopped several metres away on the road a short time later as dozens of vehicles drove past on the multi-lane freeway.

The motorist shared the footage to Wyndham TV to highlight the dangers of reckless actions on the road.

The astonishing footage has attracted more  than 160,000 viewers since it was shared online on Tuesday.

Dozens questioned whether it was the driver, who was ejected from the car, as was reported by Wyndham TV.

'How does the driver fall out the passenger side when there is a passenger in the car?' one viewer asked.

Another added: 'I’d say it was the woman who was ejected' another user wrote.

A third wrote: 'It’s the passenger on the road not [the] driver.'

Other viewers said the dashcam is a harsh reminder of the consequences for not only motorists but also passengers if they don't obey the road rules.
