Morrisons issues 'do not eat' warning to shoppers as product recalled over safety risk
by Sonia Sharma · ChronicleLiveMorrisons has recalled a product over safety fears and is asking shoppers not to eat it.
The warning is over Morrisons Crushed Garlic, which is being recalled because an ingredient has been omitted from it that prevents microbiological growth. It therefore presents a potential risk to consumers.
The item affected is in a pack size of 75g and has a best before date of October 19, 2025. People are being asked to take it back to a Morrisons store where a refund will be provided.
The retailer said: "Morrisons is recalling this product with Best Before date 19.10.25 as an ingredient has been omitted that prevents microbiological growth and therefore presents a potential risk to customers. Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don’t need a receipt.
"No other products or date codes are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety."
The warning has also been shared by the Food Standards Agency. It said: "An ingredient has been omitted from the product that prevents microbiological growth making the product potentially unsafe to eat.
"Point of sale notices will be displayed in stores where the product was sold. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
"If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
