Walker man denies attempted murder after broad daylight shooting in Byker

A man has denied attempted murder following a broad daylight shooting.

Emergency services found a man who appeared to have gunshot injuries, when they were called to a street in Byker, Newcastle, at around 1.50pm on October 16. The man, who is in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Now Stephen Thompson, of Proctor Street, in Walker, Newcastle, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted murder during a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court. A trial date has been set for April 7 next year with a time estimate of four days.

The 50-year-old, who appeared via a video link from prison, was further remanded in custody and there will be further pre-trial hearings in January and March.
