Customers of NatWest, RBS, and Ulster Bank have been left in the lurch due to a widespread web outage that has rendered them unable to access their funds.

The technical glitch has sparked a flurry of complaints across social media platforms, with many venting their frustrations on X.

One disgruntled NatWest user expressed their annoyance, stating: "I just can't log in. I have tried closing and re-opening the app". Another customer urgently inquired, "How long will it be until it's resolved? I need to access some money."

Another NatWest client lamented: "Literally can't do anything we've got planned this morning until @NatWest_Help decide to fix their app. I wouldn't mind, but this is happening none stop at the minute."

Another said: "Anyone else NatWest app not working?" reports the Mirror.

The Royal Bank of Scotland acknowledged the problem, admitting to "connection issues" in an online statement: "We have been receiving reports that the online banking and mobile app are experiencing connection issues. We are currently looking into getting this resolved. Thanks so much for your patience. We're sorry for any inconvenience. Please try again later."

Meanwhile, NatWest has assured customers via social media that their team is "working hard to get things resolved as soon as possible but has not been provided a time frame". Both banks fall under the umbrella of the NatWest Group.

A spokesperson from NatWest told The Mirror, "Some customers experienced difficulty when attempting to log in and make payments via their mobile banking app and online banking this morning. This has been resolved and we apologise for any inconvenience caused."

They added that the outage meant countless clients were left without access to their funds over the weekend. The bank, with a customer base exceeding 19 million, has notably reduced its physical branch network in recent years, responding to a greater customer shift towards online banking.

Although banks are not compelled by regulations to offer compensation following service disruptions or technical problems, affected individuals may be eligible for reimbursement if they can convincingly demonstrate substantial detriment caused, including incurred costs such as late payment charges.
