The iPhone 16 series that launched on September 9, has finally hit the shelves in the Indian market and is now available in both online and offline stores. With every iPhone launch, the Indian audience is getting more interested and enthusiastic about Apple devices. This morning, social media platforms were flooded with photos and videos of people standing in queue outside the official Apple stores in India. Both the Mumbai and Delhi stores witnessed massive crowds, interested in buying the iPhone 16 series. India Today Tech visited the store in Saket, Delhi to have a look at the crowd and here is what we found.
Look at the long queue to buy the new gen Apple phone. The case was similar for the Mumbai store. I am tired by just looking at it and can only imagine how tiring it would be for the people present there. Standing in long lines was so unbearable that one customer found another fun way to get the iPhone 16 series.
Sitting at home or in an office, you might think about why people need to go to the store when the devices are available online. Well, the people in line might be thinking the same. One such incident, posted on X, caught our eye. An X user @swapnilsinha07, posted a photo, sharing an interesting incident. Based out of Bangalore, he flew to Mumbai to be one of the first iPhone 16 owners. He arrived at the store at around 6:30AM and was waiting for his turn to buy the new iPhone. But queues and waiting times were not the hardest things he had to watch. He shared that while they were waiting in line, a guy in front of him ordered the iPhone 16 online and received the product even before it was their turn to go inside.
The customer ordered the iPhone 16 on Flipkart Minutes, and it was there in just a few minutes. He was also standing in line for hours and probably came before 6:45AM. But he couldn't wait for enough, to experience in-store buying. He invested time and energy to wait outside the store, just to buy the smartphone online. If this isn't a classic irony, then what is.
On that note, it is interesting to note that users can order the iPhone 16 series on other apps as well. Of course, Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, and other online websites are selling the devices. But they will take their time to deliver. If you want the iPhone 16 on your doorstep within minutes, you can check out BlinkIt, BigBasket and Zepto. The rapid delivery landscape has levelled up, with quick commerce leaders now offering the latest tech releases, including the iPhone 16, alongside daily essentials, redefining the boundaries of convenience.
