Vivo launched its last foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro in India in June 2024. And now, the Vivo X Fold 4 is making the headlines, which is expected to come in next year. According to the tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the upcoming smartphone will be delayed this time. Looking at the traditions, the Vivo X Fold 3 was launched in China in March 2024, hence we were expecting the same for the Vivo X Fold 4. But, the rumour has it that it may take some extra time. Barring the launch details, the tipster had more to share. Let's take a look.
Vivo X Fold 4: Leaked specs
The upcoming Vivo X Fold 4 is rumoured to feature a significant battery upgrade with a capacity exceeding 6,000mAh, along with support for wireless charging. Despite this, the device is expected to maintain a slim and lightweight design. It is tipped to include dual ultrasonic fingerprint sensors and an IPX8 rating for dust and water resistance. Its camera setup will reportedly include three 50-megapixel sensors: a primary camera, a secondary sensor, and a periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom.
The phone is also anticipated to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which is viable. The OnePlus 13, Realme GT7 Pro, iQOO 13 and more are now confirmed to feature this chip set, then it is highly likely that the Vivo's flagship foldable will follow suite.
In comparison, the Vivo X Fold 3, launched earlier in 2024 with a starting price of CNY 6,999 (approximately Rs 80,000) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, houses a 5,500mAh battery. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and boasts an 8.03-inch 2K AMOLED foldable display paired with a 6.53-inch AMOLED cover screen. Previously, it was also said that even though the Vivo X Fold 4 will have a bigger battery, it will be slimmer than its predecessor, the Vivo X Fold 3.
The device features a triple rear camera setup, led by a 50-megapixel VCS bionic main camera, and 32-megapixel selfie cameras on both internal and external screens. It also has an IPX4-rated build for splash resistance. The X Fold 4’s advancements promise enhanced functionality while retaining Vivo's focus on premium foldable designs. The leaks and rumours provide a good enough picture of the Vivo X Fold 4. But the exact details about the launch, pricing, camera and overall design, will be officially disclosed during the launch. Hence, we suggest you must take this information with a pinch of salt.
