The Google Pixel 10 series is still months away, with an expected launch in the second half of 2025. But as usual, details about the upcoming phones have started surfacing online, giving us an early idea of what next to expect from Google. According to reports, the Pixel 10 series could include four different devices — the Pixel 10 (codenamed Frankel), Pixel 10 Pro (codenamed Blazer), Pixel 10 Pro XL (codenamed Mustang) and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (codenamed Rango). This lineup is exactly in line with the Pixel 9 series, which also comprises four smartphones.

One of the biggest changes being talked about is the modem inside the Pixel 10. A recent report by Android Authority claims that Google might switch to a MediaTek modem instead of the usual Exynos modems from Samsung. More specifically, the Pixel 10 could use a MediaTek T900 modem, which is yet to be officially announced. This modem is said to be based on MediaTek’s M85 technology and will reportedly follow the 3GPP Release 17 5G standards. If that sounds technical, what it essentially means is that this modem could bring better 5G performance, faster connectivity, and improved reliability.

Now, this move could be a big deal because Pixel phones have had modem-related issues in the past. Users often complained about weak signal strength, battery drain, and heating problems due to the Samsung Exynos modems. By moving to MediaTek, Google might be trying to fix these issues and give users a smoother experience. Interestingly, the report also revealed that Google considered using the Snapdragon X75 modem from Qualcomm. However, for reasons still unknown, the company seems to have chosen MediaTek’s option instead.

The Pixel 10 series will reportedly be powered by Google’s new Tensor G5 chipset, which has already made an appearance on Geekbench. The chip seems to have an octa-core setup with one prime core running at 3.4GHz, along with five performance cores running at 2.86GHz and two efficiency cores running at 2.44GHz. The leaked listing also shows that the Tensor G5 will come with 12GB of RAM, and just like the Pixel 9 Pro models, the Pixel 10 Pro may also get 16GB RAM options. While the Geekbench test shows the chipset running on Android 15, the Pixel 10 series is expected to launch with Android 16 out of the box. This isn’t surprising, as Google’s Pixel phones usually debut with the latest version of Android.
