- Nothing teases new product launch on 24 Sept
- Rumoured to have open-ear design to compete with AirPods 4
- Expected to succeed Nothing Ear Stick with no eartip design
Nothing has so far launched four earbuds in the market, including the Nothing Ear 1, Nothing Ear 2, Nothing Ear Stick, and the Nothing Ear a. Nothing has now teased the launch of a new product on September 24, which is believed to be the first earbuds by the company, and it will be called Nothing Ear Open. The teaser post on X reads: “Out in the open. A new arrival is landing on 24.09.2024.” The same teaser has also been shared on the Nothing India X account, suggesting the product will also be launched in India on the same day.
Nothing has revealed nothing about the product yet, but rumours suggest the teaser points towards new earbuds with open-ear design that will compete with the new Apple AirPods 4. In the market, there are several true wireless earbuds (TWS) available right now. However, there is only the new AirPods 4 that offers active noise cancellation (ANC) with open-ear design.
The purported Nothing Ear Open will likely be the successor of the Nothing Ear Stick, which was launched in October 2022. Those were the company’s first earbuds to come without an eartip. The Nothing Ear 1, Ear 2, and Ear a, all sport an ear tip design.
Due to the expected design of the Nothing Ear Open, it is believed to compete with the new AirPods 4 that was launched on September 9 at Apple’s iPhone 16 launch event. The AirPods 4 features an open-ear design. Apple claims that the earbuds offer improved audio quality thanks to a low-distortion driver and high dynamic range amplifier. It also has Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, which delivers an immersive 3D sound experience for music, movies, and gaming. The earbuds are gamer-friendly with low latency audio and support for 16-bit, 48kHz sound. The AirPods 4 also come with a new force sensor on the stem that allows easy control for media and calls with just a press.
For the first time, AirPods 4 include Active Noise Cancellation in an open-ear model. With upgraded microphones and the H2 chip, the ANC filters background noise effectively. It also works with Adaptive Audio, blending noise cancellation and transparency mode based on the user’s environment. A Conversation Awareness feature lowers the volume when the user speaks, allowing for effortless conversations.
The AirPods 4 offer up to 30 hours of battery life with the charging case, and supports USB-C, as well as Apple Watch and Qi wireless chargers. The standard AirPods 4 are priced at Rs 10,900, while the ANC model costs Rs 14,900.
