Ahead of this launch, the Samsung S23 Ultra has received a great discount on Amazon. The e-commerce website is offering a 50 per cent off on the high-end model of the previous gen series. The Galaxy S23 series was launched in February 2023 and the Ultra variant launch price started at Rs 1,24,999 for the standard model. But now, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is selling at an effective price of Rs 74,999. You can read the detailed review of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra here. While the discount is very attractive, is the phone still relevant? Let's find out.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra at Rs 74,999
Amazon is selling the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra at 50 per cent discount. Interesting, there is no additional add-on offer on the e-commerce website. The device is witnessing a flat discount, priced at Rs 74,999 down from Rs 1,24,999.
But how relevant is it? Before we go down that line, let's look at the details of the phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra comes packed with a 6.8-inch QHD+ display with 3088 x 1440 pixels resolution, Dynamic AMOLED panel and 120Hz screen refresh rate. Undoubtedly, the screen dimensions are perfect for daily use. Moreover, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is also expected to sport the same display size, 6.8-inch. But when it comes to the design, the conjecture is that the company is bringing a revamped style for the Galaxy S25 Ultra with round edges. The S23 Ultra offers a super sturdy build. And it comes in funky colour options including – Green, Phantam Black, Lavender, and Cream.
Coming to the processor, since the Galaxy S23 Ultra was launched a year ago, the processor is a little old compared to the other flagship devices. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Old but still better than several smartphones in the market. Out-of the box, the phone runs on Android 13 with custom One UI 5.1 skip on top. This is one area that could hinder your choice of this phone. While it promises 4 years of Android updates, buying the Galaxy S23 Ultra at the end of 2024 means that some of these years have already passed. The Android 15 update has recently arrived and this indicates that the S23 Ultra will get only one more update. Based on this timeline, the phone will be outdated in a year or two.
The phones offer a 200-megapixel camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, a 10-megapixel telephoto (with 3X optical zoom), and a 10-megapixel telephoto (with 10X optical zoom). Samsung says there's an enhanced noise reduction technology that helps reduce noise in videos recorded in low light. There’s the new Astro Hyperlapse mode as well for capturing star trails. On the front, the phone includes a 12-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls. The front camera can now capture RAW photos and record HDR10+ video.
It is backed by a 5000mAh battery with support for wired as well as wireless fast charging out of the box. But the phone does not come with a charger. The phone comes in three variants – 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB RAM + 512GB storage and 12GB RAM + 1TB storage.
I think, if you are looking to invest only for a couple of years, then the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra might be the phone for you. It comes with S-Pen and can handle demanding games. Hence, ithe phone is worth considering, especially with this much discount.
