A crash involving two cars at a busy junction in Nottingham forced the closure of a road heading out of the city. Photos show extensive damage to the front of both vehicles - a white Mazda and black car - after the collision in Mansfield Road in Carrington on Saturday (September 21) morning.

Both cars collided with metal fencing on a pedestrian crossing at the junction with Hucknall Road and Magdala Road near the Grosvenor pub. Mansfield Road, a busy route for motorists travelling in and out of Nottingham, was briefly shut for an hour northbound while the scene was cleared.

Emergency services, including Nottinghamshire Police, were in attendance. Nottingham's traffic control team first reported the incident at around 11am and confirmed emergency services are at the scene.
