Major Metrolink disruption across the network following points failure

There are severe delays across the Metrolink tram network thanks to a points failure.

The Bee Network posting on X (formerly Twitter) said an earlier points failure at Cornbrook has resulted in 'delays across the network'.

The delays impacted the service from 3.53pm this afternoon and are set to continue until further notice, according to the Travel For Greater Manchester website.

The lines impacted are: Altrincham - Bury, Manchester Airport - Victoria, and East Didsbury - Rochdale Town Centre.

All stops are reported to be affected. The latest update says trams have resumed on the Rochdale line but with severe delays.

Tickets are being accepted on the following bus services.

18,19, 245 and 263 for Altrincham.

58/ 85A, 86, 101 and 103 for East Didsbury and Airport services.

57, 59, 81, 83, 84, 114, 149, 181, 182, 409, 411, 435, 436 for Rochdale.
