Generations unite at Willow Tree Dance School celebration
by Lewis Clarke · DevonLiveThe Willow Tree Dance and Theatre School celebrated its vibrant history on Saturday, November 2 with a heartwarming reunion for former students, marking a special occasion that brought together several generations of performers.
The highlight of the event was the surprise appearance of Irene Holland, the founder of the school and has left a lasting legacy.
In addition to reconnecting with old friends, many took the opportunity to don their dance shoes and engage in a special jazz class, creatively orchestrated by dance teacher Lydia Fitton. Lydia’s wish was to bring different generations of Willow Tree alumni together: “I wanted to create a space where everyone could reconnect and celebrate our shared love for Willow Tree. It’s wonderful to see so many familiar faces and enjoy being Willows again”.
Vicky Baldwin and Ella Fielding, current directors of Willow Tree added: “We thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many faces, old and new, and it’s amazing to witness the strong bonds, formed at Willow Tree, continuing to flourish,” they said. “This reunion is a testament to the enduring spirit of our school and the incredible community that has developed over the years.”
The reunion not only celebrated the rich history of the Willow Tree Dance and Theatre Arts School but also inspired a renewed passion for the arts among its former students, many of whom have gone onto successful careers in Performing Arts. The event was a resounding success, leaving several “Willows” planning more get togethers.
