If you've been exploring The Zone for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl achievements, you've no doubt come across a bug or five. Last week, GSC Game World said it will be rolling out hotfixes for the game to squash the bugs before moving into more feature-rich updates at a later date. Now, the developer has revealed what's coming in Stalker 2's first post-launch Xbox update, which will roll out to all players on Xbox Series X|S and PC sometime this week.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl's first hotfix arrives this week

Despite its major day one patch, Stalker 2 launched with launched with a plethora of bugs, sullying the experience for some players. We've now had a chance to sink our teeth into the game, and according to the team, the first post-launch hotfix will roll out this week. Some of the more notable fixes coming this week include fixes for some progression-blocking bugs in the main story, crashing issues, visual anomalies with NPCs, and the like. Take a look at the patch notes below.

Crash Fixes
   •  Issues and memory allocation failures, which previously caused the game to exit unexpectedly, particularly around rendering, skeletal meshes, and quest-related cutscenes.

Main Quest Progression Fixes
   •  Several bugs blocking the main quest progression, NPCs getting stuck in objects, incorrect quest markers, and issues with quest cutscenes.
   •  Revision of the main quests (like Visions of Truth or A Minor Incident) to ensure smooth transitions, avoiding rare cases of players not being able to proceed further.

Gameplay & Balance Adjustments
   •  Fixing the price of the weapons with upgrades installed compared to their value without attachments.
   •  NPCs behavior, including the way they act when lacking a shelter during the Emissions.

Cutscenes & Visual Fixes
   •  Rarely missing facial animations, misplaced NPCs, and visual inconsistencies like detached heads and clothes clipping.
   •  Quality and stability improvements of the visual effects.

Softlock Fixes
   •  Issue where players were unable to close the trade screen after putting ammo in a wrong slot while playing on a gamepad.

User Interface Improvements
   •  Quest notifications now showed correctly during dialogues.
   •  Corrected texts and missing interaction prompts.

GSC Game World says fixes for analog stick dead zones and bug fixes for the game's A-Life system will be addressed in a future patch.

Although it has launched with tons of bugs, we loved the game in our Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl review. For us, it's an incredibly immersive survival shooter, and one that shouldn't be missed if you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription.
