ITV Corrie fans 'work out' devastating Dee-Dee Bailey baby twist after Frankie news
by Angie Quinn · PlymouthLiveCoronation Street has shown a heartbreaking turn of events for Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), as her baby Frankie requires further medical care. Last week, premature-born Frankie was rushed back to the hospital after his paternal grandparents, Gus (Chris Garner) and Anthea Deering (Carol Royle), discovered bruising on his body.
Despite initial accusations of abuse against Lauren, doctors quickly determined that the bruises were not due to external injuries, but suggested Frankie might be ill. On Monday (December 16), Lauren informed her boyfriend Max Turner (Paddy Bever) that Frankie's blood tests had returned, indicating the possibility of leukaemia or severe aplastic anaemia.
Even if diagnosed with the latter, Frankie could require a bone marrow transplant, with a biopsy scheduled. However, he first needed a blood transfusion.
Lauren was adamant about being a donor for her son, but a review of her medical history revealed she had contracted Hepatitis C at 13, making her ineligible to donate due to residual antibodies.
In the meantime, Gus and Anthea appeared at the hospital, expressing their desire to reconcile with Lauren and offer assistance.
Lancs Live reports how Lauren initially dismissed them, she was crushed by her inability to help Frankie directly and began to contemplate whether Gus and Anthea might be correct.
Max attempted to reassure Lauren that she was strong enough, despite the looming possibility of receiving a life sentence for Joel's (Calum Lill) murder, Lauren became increasingly convinced that her son Frankie might be better off in the care of his grandparents.
Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) faced her own turmoil over whether to terminate her pregnancy, emphasising that it wasn't solely because Joel was the father.
As she sat pondering the difficult choice ahead, Dee-Dee sought divine intervention. Her contemplation was interrupted by a call from Max with the distressing news that Frankie was gravely ill and might need a bone marrow transplant, leaving the solicitor profoundly shaken.
Coronation Street fans are now buzzing with speculation that Dee-Dee will choose to have her child in hopes it could save her half-sibling Frankie. On X, viewers expressed their theories: One said: "I wonder if Dee Dee will keep her baby and hope it's a match for Frankie. #Corrie."
Another predicted: "Dee Dee will keep her baby and her baby will be a donor for Frankie. #Corrie."
A third added to the theory: "Omg I bet Dee-Dees baby that she's trying to decide what to do with, would end up being a match for Frankie since they share the same dad #corrie."
Questions about the potential for Dee-Dee's unborn child to assist Frankie were raised by one fan: "Would it work of DD kept the sprog to help Frankie? #corrie."
While another observed: "Dee-Dee got the confirmation from God - she looked upwards! She'll have Joel's baby to hope he/she will be a match for Frankie."
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX
