UK faces snow battering next week and 'between 14cm and 19cm could fall'
by James Rodger, https://www.facebook.com/jamesrodgerjournalist · Birmingham LiveUK snow map shows the country looks set to be hammered by more than 14cm as a -9C Arctic freeze batters the country. With December and Christmas still weeks away, the UK looks braced to be hit by its worst weather of the winter so far within just days.
Maps from WX Charts, which are predicted using Met Desk data, show between 14cm and 19cm of snow could fall around Newcastle and the whole of the North East as a whole on November 20. And accumulation tallies show snow depths of 16cm in northwest Scotland near Inverness.
Manchester could be hit by 2cm, before the weather turns even worse a day later November 21, with up to 27cm falling in northern Scotland. Scotland will then face over 30cm of snowfall the next day, and North West England and Wales again face a blast.

London won't be spared, either, if the maps and charts are to be believed. The early Met Office forecast from November 18 onwards explains: "Frequent wintry showers are expected, mainly in the north and along eastern and western coasts where exposed to the strong north to northwesterly flow. Snow is likely to fall to low levels, especially in the north."
The forecast adds: "Many inland areas may be largely dry with lengthy sunny spells, especially where sheltered from the flow. However, there is a risk of some more organised areas of rain and hill snow running east across more southern parts."
The Met Office outlook continues, saying: "The chance of any widespread or disruptive snowfall affecting more populated areas at this stage remains low though. Cold everywhere with overnight frost, and the strong winds will result in significant wind chill.
"There is a hint that it may become less cold later in the period, with more of a westerly flow becoming established."
