Factory in-charge, manager and Chinese expert  from the Honda Myanmar Plywood Factory in Kyaikrae village, Mudon Township, were released on November 9 after being abducted by the NMSP (AD), a faction that broke away from the New Mon State Party.

The armed group reportedly entered the factory compound on November 6, firing shots and demanding to speak with the manager, and later manager U Tin Tun Aung, factory in-charge U  Bobo and Chinese expert were  taken.

Sources close to the factory indicated that the abduction was likely due to unpaid demands from the NMSP (AD). The group later instructed factory contacts to pick up the released individuals near Abit Village in Mudon Township.

According to NMSP (AD) spokesperson Nai Banyar Mon to the Mon News Agency, the group had requested contact with business operators in their territory, warning that non-compliance could lead to action against businesses.

Local entrepreneurs in Mawlamyine District expressed concerns about balancing interactions with armed groups and the risk of legal consequences under the Anti-Terrorism Act if detected by authorities.

The NMSP (AD) is an armed organization that broke away from the New Mon State Party (NMSP), which signed the NCA treaty, and announced that it would join other armed organizations and attack the Tatmadaw.

In a related incident on November 8, another armed group abducted the manager of a Puma Power fuel station in Thaton Township, seizing cash, a laptop, and detonating a sound mine on-site.
