Diesel spill near Waihi

A diesel spill south of Coromandel Peninsula has prompted a warning from police.

The spill stretches across nearly a kilometre of the Waihi Whangamata Road / State Highway 25, between Waihi and Whitiroa.

Police were notified just after 11.15am, and urge motorists to "take extra care on the road" while the spill was being cleared.
